FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine that uses potentised substances to stimulate the body’s own healing response. It is based on the principle of “like cures like” — a substance that can produce symptoms in a healthy person may, in a carefully selected homeopathic preparation, help relieve similar symptoms in someone who is unwell.

Homeopathy considers the whole person, including physical symptoms, emotional wellbeing, lifestyle, sensitivities, sleep, appetite, and individual patterns.

What is the difference between homeopathy and naturopathy?

Homeopathy and naturopathy are different systems of healthcare.

Homeopathy uses individually selected homeopathic remedies based on the totality of symptoms. Naturopathy may include nutrition, herbal medicine, supplements, lifestyle advice, and other natural therapies.

Some practitioners are trained in both, but the approach and treatment methods are distinct.

Who is welcome?

We are an all-inclusive clinic. Not only do we welcome and provide a safe space for LGBTQI+ patients, but we also welcome a full range of medical professionals, including General Practitioners, Cardiologists, Dermatologists, Endocrinologists, and all other medical specialists.

What can homeopathy help with?

People consult homeopaths for a wide range of acute and chronic health concerns, including:

  • Stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm

  • Sleep difficulties

  • Digestive complaints

  • Skin conditions

  • Hormonal and menstrual concerns

  • Allergies and hay fever

  • Recurrent colds, coughs, and minor infections

  • Children’s health concerns

  • Pregnancy and postnatal support

  • General wellbeing and constitutional care

Homeopathy does not replace emergency care or necessary medical treatment. If you have a serious, persistent, or worsening condition, please consult your GP or appropriate healthcare professional.

What if I don't believe in Homeopathy?

Belief is not required. As my daughter once said, “Homeopathy doesn’t care whether or not you believe in it.” Remedies work on babies and animals, and they don’t believe in it. All that is required is that you are willing to answer questions truthfully and follow instructions to the best of your ability.

Is homeopathy safe?

Homeopathic remedies are generally considered safe when prescribed appropriately by a qualified practitioner. They are highly diluted and usually free from pharmacological side effects.

However, it is important to work with a trained homeopath, especially if you are pregnant, caring for a baby or child, managing a chronic illness, or taking prescription medication.

Should I tell my GP?

Yes. Absolutely. It is important to tell your GP and any other medical practitioners involved in your care that you are seeing us.

You are very welcome to give them our contact details in case they have any questions.

We also find it very helpful when patients see their GP for a general health check-up and any relevant tests before their first appointment, as this gives us a solid benchmark from which to evaluate the patient's progress.

Can I use homeopathy alongside conventional medicine?

Yes. Homeopathy is commonly used alongside conventional medical care. Homeopathic remedies do not typically interfere with prescription medications.

Please continue any prescribed medication unless advised otherwise by your medical doctor. Your homeopath may ask about your current medications and medical history to ensure your care is well coordinated.

What happens during the first consultation?

Your first consultation is a detailed case-taking session. Your homeopath will ask about your main health concerns as well as your general wellbeing, medical history, family history, sleep, appetite, energy, emotional state, stress patterns, and individual symptoms.

The goal is to understand you as a whole person, not just the diagnosis or presenting complaint. This allows the homeopath to select a remedy that best matches your overall symptom picture.

How are homeopathic remedies taken?

Homeopathic remedies are commonly supplied as small pills, tablets, liquid drops, or powders. They are usually taken by mouth and allowed to dissolve.

Your homeopath will provide specific instructions, including dosage, frequency, and what to do if symptoms change.

How long does it take to see results?

This varies depending on the nature of the condition, how long it has been present, your overall vitality, your individual response, and the accuracy of the prescription.

Acute conditions may shift quickly, sometimes within hours or days. Chronic conditions usually require more time and follow-up care, especially if symptoms have been present for many months or years.

How many appointments will I need?

This depends on your health goals and the complexity of your case.

For acute concerns, one or two appointments may be enough. For chronic or long-standing conditions, regular follow-ups are usually recommended so your homeopath can monitor progress and adjust treatment as needed.

Can children and babies have homeopathy?

Yes. Many families choose homeopathy for babies and children because remedies are gentle, easy to take, and individually prescribed.

Common reasons parents consult a homeopath include sleep issues, teething, recurrent colds, digestive upsets, skin concerns, emotional sensitivity, and behavioural changes.

For any serious symptoms in babies or children, such as high fever, breathing difficulty, dehydration, severe pain, or unusual drowsiness, seek urgent medical care.

Is homeopathy suitable during pregnancy?

Homeopathy is often used during pregnancy, labour preparation, birth recovery, and the postnatal period. Remedies should be prescribed by a qualified practitioner who understands pregnancy care.

Always inform your midwife, GP, obstetrician, or relevant healthcare provider about any complementary therapies you are using.

Do I need a diagnosis to see a homeopath?

No. You do not need a formal diagnosis to consult a homeopath. Homeopathy is based on your individual symptom pattern and overall health picture.

However, diagnosis can be very important for identifying serious conditions and guiding appropriate medical care. If symptoms are severe, persistent, or unexplained, your homeopath may recommend that you see your GP for assessment.

Will I have to stop my medication?

No. You should not stop or change prescribed medication unless advised by your medical doctor.

Homeopathy can often be used alongside conventional treatment. Your homeopath will take your medications into account when planning your care.

Are homeopathic remedies regulated in Australia?

Homeopathic medicines are available in Australia and are generally considered low-risk when used appropriately. Practitioners may use remedies from reputable homeopathic pharmacies and suppliers.

If you have any concerns about quality, ingredients, or suitability, ask your homeopath for more information.

What is constitutional homeopathy?

Constitutional homeopathy looks at your overall pattern — physical, emotional, mental, and inherited tendencies — rather than focusing only on one symptom or condition.

The aim is to support deeper balance and resilience by prescribing a remedy that closely matches your individual constitution.

Can consultations be done online?

Yes. Many homeopathic consultations can be done online via video call or phone, especially for chronic or constitutional care.

Remedies can often be posted to you or sourced from a homeopathic pharmacy, depending on your location and the nature of the prescription.

Do you offer acute consultations?

Yes, we offer shorter acute consultations for recent or short-term complaints such as colds, coughs, digestive upsets, minor injuries, or sudden emotional distress.

If symptoms are severe, rapidly worsening, or potentially urgent, seek immediate medical advice or emergency care.

When should I seek urgent medical care?

Please seek urgent medical care if you or your child experiences:

  • Difficulty breathing

  • Chest pain

  • Severe allergic reaction

  • Loss of consciousness

  • Severe or worsening pain

  • Signs of stroke

  • Severe dehydration

  • High fever in a baby or very young child

  • Persistent fever or rapidly worsening symptoms

  • Suicidal thoughts or mental health crisis

  • Any symptoms that feel alarming or medically urgent

Homeopathy can support wellbeing, but it is not a substitute for emergency medical care.

What if I’m not sure whether homeopathy is right for me?

If you are unsure, you are welcome to book an initial consultation or enquiry call. Your homeopath can discuss your concerns, explain the process, and help you decide whether homeopathy is appropriate for your situation.

Final decisions about your healthcare are always yours, and homeopathy can often be part of a broader, integrative approach to wellbeing.
